Today it is very common for baby showers to be invaded by the expectant father and the spouses of the ladies attending. Which means it is not a Baby Shower, it’s a New Baby Party!
The days of ladies only Baby Showers are over, and so are the goofy games. Its more of a social event, where couples can celebrate the excitement of the coming baby while enjoying each others company.
New Baby Party menus might look for like a Sunday afternoon barbecue, with plenty of good food and drink.
While not a lot of guys are into playing some of the traditional shower games, you can be creative and get the guys involved. Do some searching and come up with top ten lists on baby care, schedules, feeding, bathing, and see how informed the guys are? Have the guys create their own top ten list of things dad should make sure there boy or girl should know. A little creativity can make for a memorable event!
So what about decorations and themes? While you might consider toning down the some of the traditional pink themes, don’t be afraid to embrace what ever the mommy to be really wants. After all the world is about to change, and once the new baby arrives, life will never be the same!

The Easy Way to Throw a Baby Shower
The Easy Way to Throw a Baby Shower
Baby Showers should be a memorable event for an expectant mother. You want to put on a fun event that everyone will enjoy! So how do you do that without creating a monster that takes all your sanity away? Repeat these two words; organization and creativity!
You have to take the time to be organized, sit down and make a list of the things you will need to tackle; guest list, invitations, picking a date, food, cake, games, gift ideas, you get the idea. Now before you talk yourself out of the whole thing, think….Themes!
Themes
Now here comes the super easy and creative part, the expectant mommy, will tell you the theme of the baby shower! No you don’t want to ask her to help you plan her own shower, tacky, tacky, tacky….. What you want to do is to slip in a couple of useful questions into your next conversation with her about how pending bundle of joy.
For example; Ask her about the nursery, if this is her first, she needs everything, if she has the basics, is she going to redecorate? How about making the shower theme match the theme she wants to decorate in. Also be sure and find out if mommy know the sex of the baby.
Once you know what mommy to be wants the nursery to look like, you have your idea for the baby shower decorations, table cloths, plates, napkins, invitations, party favors. When you theme the baby shower everything matches and you already know that the mommy will love it!
Also, be sure and find out where she is registered for gifts. Simply including the theme idea and gift registration locations, gives the guests a much better shot of getting her gifts she will love and use.
If mommy doesn’t have a theme picked out don’t hesitate to make some friendly suggestions: Some popular nursery themes are; Simple boy or girl motifs, Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, Dora The Explorer, Sprung Bob, Sesame Street, Bob the Builder, the list could go on forever.
When decorating for a baby shower don’t be afraid to get away from the traditional pink and blue. Let your decorations reflect the theme of the nursery, the mom to be, or the couple. Lets face it, this child is going to be a reflection of mom and dad so have fun and let the baby show celebrate this blessed event.
So remember, being the hostess with the mostess doesn’t have to be a stressful, panic filled event. The real key to a successful baby shower is picking the right theme and the best way to know you have picked the perfect theme is spend time talking to the mommy to be about her new bundle of joy.
And just a thought about a gift that will totally blow the expecting mommy away, think about a photo blanket gift certificate from http://www.treasuresfrombaby.com/.

A Father's Day to Treasure
Truly an American Holiday to honor fathers. The first observance of Father's Day is believed to have been held on July 5, 1908 in a church located in Fairmont, West Virginia, by Dr. Robert Webb of West Virginia at the Central United Methodist Church of Fairmont.
Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd of Washington thought independently of the holiday one Sunday in 1909 while listening to a Mother's Day sermon at the Central Methodist Episcopal Church at Spokane, and she arranged a tribute for her father in June 19, 1910. She was the first to solicit the idea of having an official Father's Day observance to honor all fathers.
Where Mother's Day was met with enthusiasm, Father's Day was met with laughter. The holiday gathered attention slowly, but for the wrong reasons: it was the target of much satire, parody and derision, including jokes from the local newspapers.
In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge recommended that Father’s Day become a national holiday. President Johnson in 1966, designated the third Sunday in June to be Father’ Day. Finally in 1972, President Richard Nixon, instituted Father’s Day as a National Observance.
Today, Father's Day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide and typically involves giving Father’s Day gifts, and special dinners to fathers and family-oriented activities.

So, why has Father's Day had such a rocky past? It seems very interesting that a holiday to honor and celebrate every hard working, family loving, provider was originally met with satire, parody and the brunt of newspaper cartoonists. Though out history millions of men have dedicated their lives, times, talents and wealth to the idea that if they work hard their children can and will have a better life than they have.
Instead of making dad the brunt of a joke, show him how much you love and appreciate the life he has provided his family.
If we could ask a hundred dad's what they wanted most for Father's Day, I bet the majority of them would want to spend time with their kids, and more specifically they would want their kids, to want to spend time with them!
Beyond spending time, what better way to show dad how much you love him than to give him a personalized gift that vividly reminds him of some special time the two of you shared. TreasuresFromBaby.com has just those items, like a custom tapestry wall hanging, that takes one of your dad's favorite photos and weaves the image into an heirloom quality tapestry that will quickly become the centerpiece of any room.
How about a photo throw for dad's dean, man cave or football room? TreasuresFromBaby.com has a wide variety of woven, knit and fleece printed afghan blankets that capture that favorite photo image and never lets it go.
So this June 21st, don't forget Dad, spend some quality time talking about that favorite vacation, camping trip or game and once you've stopped laughing about those good times, give dad a personalized gift that we remind him of that day forever.
